    TDS Return filing is the process where every deductor reports details of tax deducted at source (TDS) and deposited with the Income Tax Department. It includes information on the deductee, PAN, payment type, and TDS amount.
    TDS Returns must be filed by employers, companies, LLPs, firms, government bodies, and individuals who are required to deduct tax while making specified payments like salary, rent, professional fees, interest, or contractor payments.
    The common types of TDS returns are:
    • Form 24Q: TDS on salaries
    • Form 26Q: TDS on payments (other than salaries) to residents
    • Form 27Q: TDS on payments to non-residents
    • Form 27EQ: TCS (Tax Collected at Source)
    TDS returns are filed quarterly. Generally, the due dates are 31st July, 31st October, 31st January, and 31st May for each financial year.
    Late filing can lead to:
    • Penalty of ₹200 per day of default under Section 234E
